Why aluminum is different

Aluminum does not behave like steel. It cannot be heated and hammered back into shape the same way, it cracks instead of bending under the wrong kind of force, and it corrodes rapidly if steel dust or steel tools touch it. Repairing an aluminum vehicle with steel-shop methods can leave it weaker than it looks, and can void the manufacturer's warranty.

How we repair aluminum

• Dedicated aluminum repair area with its own tools, so steel particles never contaminate an aluminum panel.
• Manufacturer-specific procedures for sectioning, riveting, and bonding aluminum structures, including self-piercing rivets and structural adhesives where the OEM calls for them.
• Trained technicians certified through the manufacturer programs listed on our certifications page.
• Correct refinishing using primers and prep designed for aluminum so the paint bonds and lasts (see paint and refinish).

Is aluminum repair more expensive?

It can be, because of the specialized materials and the time some procedures require. We give you a clear estimate up front and work with your insurer on what the manufacturer's procedure requires (insurance claim assistance). What we will not do is cut corners on a repair that affects the strength of your vehicle.
